Cian Rennicks shoots for St Ultans against Syddan

St. Ultans 2-14  Syddan 2-11

St Ultans remain in the hunt for promotion out of division 4 in the All-County B League, after a spirited win against Syddan, in Sean Newman Park.

Ultans opened the brighter with two early scores from Paul Murray and Conor Smyth. Syddan scored their first after 7 minutes but Emmett Costello answered back quickly for the men in green and black with a well taken point.

The scores were level at three each when Ultans’ first goal came. A clever run from wing-back Darren Mallon, allowed him to get in behind the Syddan rear-guard. He gathered the ball and finished coolly to the back of the net.

Both sides then traded points. Tadgh Ratty and Paul Murray hitting the scores for Ultans. Leaving it 1-05 to 0-05 at halftime.

Ultans came out in the second half with a real determination. They scored five unanswered points. Eoin Kavanagh with three, Emmett Costello and Conor Smyth adding a point each.

Syddan did answer back with two points of their own but the game was put to bed in a little over 10 minutes when Cian Rennicks came on and scored 1-03. Eoin Kavanagh added a free late on.
