There will be no shortage of derby matches in this year’s IFC following the draw on Monday night.
Last year’s beaten finalists Ballinlough take on their north Meath neighbours Drumbaragh in a mouth watering first round tie in Group A. And just to add further spice Oldcastle and Kilmainham are also included in the same group, along with Meath Hill and Nobber.
The big clash in Group B is the meeting of Castletown and Syddan while Trim and Ballinabrackey will also lock horns in an opening round tie in the same group. The remaining first round tie is between St Michael’s and Bective.
In Group C relegated Blackhall Gaels take on Donaghmore/Ashbourne’s second team. Another second team Dunboyne is also included in the group and the 2018 junior champions face a stiff opener against Duleek-Bellewstown. Also included in the group are Walterstown who play Dunderry.
Longwood were the surprise winners of the 2018 IFC title and this year’s competition could well throw up another surprise packet.
There is no relegation from the intermediate grade this year and the 2020 competition will consist of 20 first teams. This will include three teams relegated from senior and two first teams promoted from junior.
