Andy McEntee expects Meath to gain confidence from their win over Dublin in yesterday's Sean Cox fundraiser.

While Dublin were short most of their All-Ireland winning team for the Pairc Tailteann encounter which raised €80,000 for the stricken former Dunboyne GAA chairman, McEntee was nevertheless delighted to win thanks to a strong finish.

"We were two points down with less than 10 minutes to go and we kept doing what we thought was the right thing so why wouldn't they take something from it?" the Meath manager asked.

"They still keep the scoreline, it's a game of football at the end of the day and the lads put in a good shift and I'd like to think there was they can take something from it.

"We went through a phase midway through the second half where we made a lot of bad decisions and gave away a lot of simple ball. And in all fairness a few subs came in and added impetus, the lads came in and affected the game pretty well and we got the last four. That's always positive."

McEntee was happy with how the weekend went, despite the Royal County's loss to Longford in the O'Byrne Cup on Saturday.

"It's a good weekend for us we got a game into 35 or 36 fellas over the weekend. The result last night isn't what we would have liked but it is what it is."
