SFC: Gaeils too strong for Curraha

Gaeil Colmcille and Curraha met in Walterstown for the final round of group games in this year's Meath Senior Football Championship. 

Gaeil Colmcille, needing a win to progress from the group rushed into an early lead of 0-09 to 0-01 thanks to some fine scores from Brian Hanlon, Martin Barrett and a rare score from corner back Jordan Muldoon. 

On 25 minutes Fionn Reilly scored the opening goal of the game and 6 minutes later in First Half stoppage time Barrett added a second goal to leave Kells 2-13 to 0-03 ahead at the break. 

The second half was familiar to the first with the Gaeils dominating the tempo of the game. Scores from Evan Sheridan, Oisin Reilly and Seamus Mattimoe pushed Gaeil Colmcille further clear. 

Mattimoe found his range and tagged over a couple of more scores as well as scores from Barrett, Fionn Reilly and substitute Fionn Ferguson. Gaeil Colmcille rounded off the victory when veteran forward Gary Arkins came off the bench to score Kells fourth goal of the game to ensure Gaeil Colmcille's passage to the preliminary Quarter Final against Wolfe Tones.
