FL Div 1: Hanlon on form as Kells move back to pole position

Gaeil Colmcille picked up their 20th points of this years A League Division One, beating St. Patrick's by 7 points in miserable conditions in Grangegodden. The win puts them back on top alongside Skryne with just 2 games left.

Brian Hanlon starred for Kells, picking up an impressive 2-05 on the night but It would be the Stamullen men who would make the brighter start, taking advantage of a string wind in the first half. Five unanswered points seen the visitors lead 0-05 to 0-02 after 11 minutes. Points from Hanlon And Liam Ferguson left two points between the sides. On 16 minutes, Seamus Mattimoe blocked down a St. Patrick's attack on his own 45 yard line and opened up the defence with a blistering run, a pass inside was off-loaded to Martin Barrett who palmed the ball over the on rushing keeper. Kells would get their second goal of the game on 22 minutes when Hanlon got taken down for a penalty, resulting in the St. Patrick's keeper picking up a black card. Hanlon dusted himself off and placed the ball in the top right corner leaving Kells 2-05 to 0-06 ahead. Hanlon finished off the half with an extra 1-01 when his goal on 29 minutes saw Kells 3-05 to 0-08 ahead at Half-Time. 

Hanlon who was on fire all night started the second half with a brace of points. Lar Wall introduced Gary Arkins for Oisin Reilly on 41 minutes and the veteran forward rewarded Wall for the move by pointing with his first touch in coming on. St. Patrick's pressured in the final 15 minutes and if not for top class saves from Justin Carry-Lynch the scoreline could have been a lot closer. Mattimoe and Evan Sheridan rounded off the scoring and saw Kells close out a 3-11 to 0-13 win.
