St. Ultans Report

St Ultans 2-10 Nobber 3-14

St Ultans were defeated by a strong Nobber side on Saturday evening in Kilmainham. A slow start again left St Ultans with it all to do but despite a brave fight back Nobber held on for a comfortable win. Nobber registered the first score with a fisted effort which was quickly cancelled out by Cian Rennicks after Breslin won the ball. Nobber scored seven in a row before Rennicks split the posts again. Ultans missed some scoring chances at this stage but Nobber were clinical in front of goal and were rewarded with the opening goal after a great team move. Further points were added by Rennicks and Breslin  but Nobber went to the dressing rooms far the happier at half time leading 1-12 to 4 points.

Any hopes of Ultans comeback ended in the first 3 minutes of the second half where Nobber scored 2-1 with a fisted goal and an excellent shot to the top corner of the net. Ultans to their credit kept working hard and two frees from Eoin Kavanagh on his first championship start narrowed the gap. Nobber replied with a point from play and this was to be their last score of the game. Nobber had two red cards after players on yellows received blacks cards and Ultans fought back but the clock are scoreboard were against them. Goals from Rennicks and Breslin along with a brace of points from Darren Kavanagh, a free from Eoin Kavanagh and a point from Darren Costello narrowed the gap but ultimately Nobber ran out comfortable winners.
