Dunboyne 2-11 Blackhall Gaels 0-11

Dunboyne had two goals to spare over a a determined Blackhall Gaels in this opening round Group A Meath Senior Football Championship clash played at Ashbourne. The game was switched at the last hour from a waterlogged Dunshaughlin.

Goals from Stuart Lowndes and debutant Liam Byrne gave the eventual winners a 2-5 to 0-4 interval lead. Eight of the Peters eleven points scored came from frees, Donal Lenihan (6) and Robbie McCarthy (2). 

Half time saw the need for a change of jerseys for St Peters as the two outfits were looking increasingly similar as the night got darker.

Next up for the winners is holders Simonstown while Blackhall Gaels take on Donaghmore Ashbourne.
