The Late Sean Clarke The death has taken place in England of Sean Clarke, formerly of Ballygowan, Claremorris. Sean was a well-known footballer in his youth and was in fact the first secretary of the Ballygowan Club when it was founded in 1947. He worked at that time in Tierney's in Mount Street (now Richard Finn's). Sean Clarke moved from there to a business owned by the late Bill Kenny in Kiltimagh and played football with the Kiltimagh Club. He later moved to McCambridge's in Shop Street in Galway as top bacon hand. He took up a similar position with Maxwell's in Longford. He emigrated to England in later life and played for the famous John Mitchell's club in Warwickshire before moving to London and worked for a while as an upholsterer with Ford's Dagenham Motors before retiring. Sean was predeceased by his wife some years ago. He is deeply regretted by his two sons, brothers Pat, Ballygowan, Frank, Garrymore, sisters Teresa, Kilbannon; Kathleen and Sheila, Mayo; relatives and friends. Burial took place in Slough during this week. Our deepest sympathy goes to family, relatives and friends RIP. Mayo News 16 November 05
