The Late Val McLoughlin The death occurred recently of Mr. Val (Maxi) McLoughlin, Station Road, Ballina, who was a well-known and respected member of the community. He was one of the most prominent Gaelic footballers in the Ballina area during a long playing career and was also a highly accomplished boxer. The late Mr McLoughlin won numerous county medals over many years with Ballina Stephenites and was one of the stalwarts of the United Club in its most prominent years. He represented his Club with great distinction in boxing and won numerous titles. He worked as a confectioner for many years in Mitchell's, Ballina and later in Claremorris. After this he spent a number of very happy years with Hollister in Ballina. He retired some years ago. He is survived by his Beatrice and sons, Val, James, John and Declan.
