Galway 1-12
Mayo 0-11
Captain Damien Comer was the star of the show as Galway got the better of Mayo in today's semi-final at Elverys McHale Park.
The Tribesmen's centre-forward was in top scoring form and, despite picking up a black card with eight minutes to go, he shot 1-5 to put down a large deposit on his side's final ticket
Comer's goal helped establish a 1-6 to 0-5 interval lead for the visitors while Mayo's woes were compounded when a Brian Reape goal was disallowed with time almost up.
The team in maroon and white also lost Johnny Heaney to a black card in the first half .
A minute later, Mayo were denied the services of Diarmuid O'Connor for a similar offence and James Durcan finished as their top scorer with four pointed frees.
Galway now turn their attention to a final showdown against Roscommon who scored a facile victory over Sligo on Wednesday night. The decider will be played on Saturday, April 4th at a venue to be decided.
