Mayo SFC final replay
Charlestown...........................2-16
Knockmore.................................0-8
A 99 year wait came to an end for Charlestown on Saturday when they comfortably overcame Knockmore in the Mayo SFC final replay at McHale Park.
It was a scrappy contest overall but that won't bother Charlestown who enjoyed a surprisingly comfortable victory. At half-time they were 0-11 to 0-4 to the good.
Two early second half points from Kevin Staunton and Kevin O'Neill gave Knockmore a glimmer of hope but a Richard Haran goal shortly after killed off the Knockmore challenge. Substitute Eoghan Gallagher's goal was the icing on the cake.
There was a few ugly scenes during the closing stages of the game and the sending off of Kevin Staunton compounded Knockmore's woes.
