Mayo manager James Horan doesn't subscribe to the theory that his team lack the killer instinct up front.
Horan and his team are aiming to collect a third provincial title success in a row and he has defended his forwards shooting in front of the posts.
"We scored 39 points in two games against Dublin last year. That's fairly okay scoring. And another 16 this year (twice against Dublin)," he explained to the Irish Independent.
"We scored high against Down (3-18) and Leitrim 4-20 last year. That's pretty high scoring in anyone's book."
A third Connacht SFC victory could act as a stepping stone to greater things come September as the Connacht champions bid to go one step further than last year.
"You want to win as many cups as you can, and three Connacht titles in succession would be nice.
"We're favourites going down to Salthill on Sunday for very logical reasons, so we're looking forward to the challenge."
