Mayo have been dealt a massive blow ahead of their Connacht SFC quarter-final against Galway on May 19 with the news that Mickey Conroy will miss the game through injury.

The veteran corner forward underwent surgery on Friday on the shoulder injury he sustained whilst playing for his club Davitt's in a league game on the weekend before last, and is facing an eight-week recovery period. Conroy was one of Mayo's standout performers in their march to the Allianz Football League semi-finals earlier this month, and will be a huge loss for the eagerly-awaited local derby clash in Pearse Stadium.
