ISPCA's colour appeal to fans

September 06, 2012
The Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ISPCA) has appealed to GAA fans not to paint their livestock in the county colours ahead of the All-Ireland hurling and football finals.

Cattle, sheep, pigs and horses have all been given makeovers by supporters gripped by All-Ireland fever in recent years. But now the ISPCA is calling on fans of Galway, Kilkenny, Donegal and Mayo to refrain from painting their farm animals ahead of the big day.

"Obviously this is not an activity that we would advocate. The main message is to make sure the animals are respected," ISPCA CEO Noel Griffin said in The Irish Daily Star.
