Prenty fears for JFC

Connacht GAA secretary John Prenty believes that the provincial junior football championship has no future.
This Sunday, Mayo take on Galway in the Connacht JFC final, but the lead up to the decider has been somewhat farcical as Mayo have yet to play a game in the competition.
Both Leitrim and Roscommon pulled out of the championship within days of one another and the winners of their clash were due to play Mayo in the semi final.
Galway beat Sligo in a preliminary round to reach the final and Prenty feels that the competition is of no use to counties.
"Personally speaking I think the junior championship serves no purpose," Prenty told the Western People.
"Leitrim have a new senior management, a new panel, and a lot of their senior panellists would have been eligible to play junior but a week later they would have been in the senior championship and after that no longer eligible. Roscommon are in the same boat, so I think the competition is dead."
