Mayo manager James Horan expects Andy Moran to be back in action before the start of the NFL.

The All-Star full forward suffered a broken leg during an International Rules trial game at Parnell Park in September, and missed the trip to Australia as a result. But he is making a good recovery and is on course for a January return.

"The injury was doubly unfortunate for Andy as he was unable to get on the plan for the matches against Australia," Horan said in the Irish Daily Star.

"But he's making an excellent recovery from his broken leg and he's doing everything according to the letter of the law.

"His leg was put in a cast, but he didn't need an operation, and we'd be hopeful that he'll be back for the latter stages of the FBD League in January." Tweet
