O'Hara, Eamon

November 18, 2008
His remains were removed to St James' Church, Charlestown and burial took place after Solemn Requiem Mass to the Cemetery of the Resurrection. He is survived by his wife Evelyn, sons Gerard, Noel and Richard, daughters Carol, Ann and Claire grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a wide circle of friends. The late Eamon was a real gentleman in the true sense of the word. He was very well loved and respected by all within the community and was a good community person who was very much involved in the Charlestown Drama Club for many years in times past. He also had a deep love of GAA and indeed represented the Sarsfields with distinction in his youth. He also was a very keen fisherman and spent many a happy evening on the banks of the Moy and beyond hoping to net a good catch. He ran the very successful Riverside Restaurant and Hotel with his wife Evelyn for many years until his retirement some years ago and he had a very good way about him when it came to business and hospitality. He was a good friend and neighbour and could always be depended upon to lend a hand in times of need. He was a great family man and took a keen interest in their health and well being at all times. His loss robs the community of one of its best and finest citizens and the huge crowds who attended the removal of his remains and subsequent burial was ample proof of the esteem and respect in which he was held. Charlestown has lost a good man and we tender our deepest sympathies to the bereaved. - Western People, November 18, 2009
