Anthony Cunningham’s impact since taking over as Roscommon senior football manager was evident for all to see in MacHale Park last night, according to Cathal Cregg.
The Rossies registered a first championship victory over Mayo since 2001 and Cregg – who finished with a goal to his name – was fulsome in his praise of what Cunningham has brought to the table since taking over from Kevin McStay.
“He has really instilled that edge, that belief in ourselves,” he outlined to Sky Sports.
“Maybe years in the past we would have gave up when things were going against us and would have conceded goals. I suppose the defensive side of things, he has really shored that up.
“Just gave us that belief to really maximise what we have in the squad.”
