Diarmuid O’Connor will captain Mayo’s senior footballers for the 2019 season.

The two-time Young Footballer of the Year was confirmed as the county’s new skipper this evening via the Mayo GAA Twitter account, having made his championship debut for the Westerners against New York in 2014.

Experienced defender Paddy Durcan will take on the role of vice-captain with the team.

James Horan’s men travel to take on league leaders Kerry next Saturday week (March 16th) in a bid to avoid their third consecutive defeat in Division 1 after opening their campaign with as many wins.
