Louth under 14 Ladies in All Ireland Blitz

On Saturday 18th May the Louth u14 ladies team travelled to Kinnegead Co. Westmeath to the All Ireland blitz.
With a 6.30am start 25 of the 31 squad was available to play in the blitz up against Down, Fermanagh, Longford and Sligo. With only 10 min games all girls were rotated as the level of football was very high playing against division 2 teams with Louth and Longford only division 3.
A great start with first game against Fermanagh with Louth winning 4-03 to 0-02 . Then a though match against Down until the last 5 mins Louth ran away 3-07 to 1-03 winners the score not reflecting the close game.
With Longford withdrawing from the competition and other results going in Louth favour Louth reached the final against Sligo.The final which was 15mins a side was very tough with both teams drawn at half time 0-04 to 1-01 as tiredness set in on both teams subs were very important on both side with Sligo going on to win by one point 0-06 to 1-04 a great achievement for the Louth team just pipped at the post to the Connacht champions Div 2.
The Louth team next game is in the Division 3 B championship against Carlow on June 8th and then they travel to Ventry Co. Kerry the following weekend for a training weekend with Daragh O Shea which includes training sessions and games to finish of a long season as the girls have been training hard all winter from the middle of December.
