Louth manager Aidan O'Rourke is planning for "a long summer of football".
The Wee County haven't enjoyed an extended run in the premier competition since reaching the 2010 Leinster SFC final but O'Rourke hopes to change that in his first championship campaign at the helm:
"We're preparing for a campaign this year," the Armagh man confirms in The Dundalk Democrat. "We will of course be taking a close look at [first-round opponents] Laois but we hope it will be a long summer of football.
O'Rourke was speaking in the wake of his team's 4-17 to 4-14 victory over his native Orchard County in a SF challenge at Dorsey on Sunday and he added:
"We've been able to create scores consistently this year, even during some of the league matches that we lost we've still scored reasonably well, and that was the same [against Armagh].
"From our point of view, it was good to make them work. It was certainly a useful exercise and the majority of the lads did really well, even if the game had petered out after about 50 minutes."
