Nally not getting carried away

March 18, 2010
Louth minor boss Colm Nally asked his players to remain grounded after they progressed to the Leinster minor football league final.

The Wee County advanced to the final of the provincial league competition with a thumping 4-10 to 0-12 defeat of Offaly and have looked impressive so far this year. But Nally insists that the championship is what really counts, while the league is only useful as preparation for the big one:

"The competition has helped us bond and settle as a team. We know that Offaly and Wexford were taking it seriously - as have we - but the main thing is to keep our feet on the ground.

"The league format helps them with their focus and is better than a challenge match.

"It allows us to see who is up for the battle, who shows leadership qualities. Winning the final will help the confidence, but we would like to keep it in perspective."
