Kierans takes Louth hot-seat

Wayne Kierans has been confirmed as Louth’s new senior football manager for the 2019 season.

The O’Connells clubman succeeds Pete McGrath in the role and has been handed a two-year term by the board.  

Having previously managed the Wee County’s minor footballers, Kierans has beat off competition from the likes of London boss Ciaran Deely and Meath man Kit Henry to take the post.

Louth’s 2018 season ended in disappointing fashion – a 10-point defeat to Leitrim in the All-Ireland SFC qualifiers – after having failed to win a single game in Division 2 of the Allianz League.
