May 16, 2018

O Raghallaighs survived a scare before they managed to continue their 100 per cent start to the season with a 1-15 to 2-11 win over Glen Emmets at the Gaelic Grounds.

Ben Rogan was in fine form for the winners as he finished with 1-6 while Barry Flanagan (5), Ben Rogan, Olan Walshe and Cillian Curran were also on target.

The Glen Emmets were trailing by just 1-8 to 2-4 at the break.

Hunterstown Rovers continue to match the O Raghallaighs as they also made it six wins from six by defeating St Josephs on a 1-14 to 1-4 scoreline.

There wasn't a lot between the teams in the first half as points from Ryan Burns and Paul Carrie helped the hosts lead by 0-5 to 0-3 at the break. Craig Doherty and Alan Quigley were on target for the Joes.

Rovers took command in the second half and kicked seven successive points before Brendan Lennon hit the net to put the game beyond the Joes. The visitors battled to the end and saw Craig Doherty hit back with a fine goal.

Kilkerley Emmets kept the pressure on the top two when they defeated Nh Fionnbarra by 1-14 to 1-8 in Kilkerley.

The result leaves the Emmets just two points off the top but puts a dent in the Finbarrs title hopes as they suffered their second defeat of the campaign.

Bernard Osborne scored the goal for the Barrs while William Woods kicked six points, and Eoghan Osborne added two.

The O'Connells moved away from trouble at the foot of the table when they defeated St Fechins by 1-18 to 0-11 at The Grove to record their third win of the season.

Dean Corrigan, Ronan Hoclcroft, Brian Devlin and Jamie King were all on target for the Fechins in the opening period but it was the O'Connells who led by 0-9 to 0-7 at the break with Robert Quigley, Dean Stanfield, Stuart Osborne and Niall Conlon all claiming points.

The home side increased the pace in the second half and continued to take their points before Emmet Byrne made sure of victory when he scored the only goal of the game.

Oliver Plunketts goalkeeper Luke Haggins pointed a '45' eight minutes into injury time to give his side a dramatic 1-11 to 0-13 win away to St Mochtas.

The Drogheda men had Cian Brady, Trevor Walsh and Andy Morgan among the scorers in the first half but with Declan Byrne and Stephen McCooey on target for the hosts, the Mochtas went in at the break leading by 0-7 to 0-6.

Nine minutes into the second half Dean Carolan scored the only goal of the game to put the Plunketts ahead. The Mochtas fought back and looked destined to take something from the game only for Haggins to win it late on for the visitors.

Glyde Rangers picked up a crucial win in their bid to avoid relegation as they defeated fellow strugglers Roche Emmets by 1-15 to 1-7.

The game in Roche saw the visitors have the best of the first half and a goal from Niall Sharkey saw them lead by 1-7 to 0-4 at the break.

The Tallanstown side remained on top in the second half and went on to record a comfortable victory with the help of points from Brian Duffy and Dion Conlon despite Barry O'Hare finding the net for Roche as he finished with a personal tally of 1-5.
