April 16, 2018

Na Piarsaigh's Alan McCartney

Na Piarsaigh cruised to a comfortable victory in Division 3 as they returned home from Drogheda with a 6-10 to 0-4 success.

The Dundalk men saw Alan McCartney scored two first half goals while Robbie Murphy netted a third as their side led by 3-1 to 0-2 at the break.

After the restart Stevie Arrowsmith, Eamonn MCAuley and Mark O'Hare hit the net to seal victory.

The Nicks scored through John Heeney, Kevin Walsh, Alan Dyas and Jason O'Boyle.

Nh Malachi recovered from a midweek defeat to Sean McDermotts as they scored a 1-14 to 0-4 win away to Cuchulainn Gaels.

Inspired by top-scorer, Collie Rooney, the Mals got a grip on proceedings in the first half and went in with a 0-9 to 0-2 advantage. The Omeath men gave a good account of themselves in that period but were left to rue a total of seven wides.

The second half saw the Malachis remain on top and they pushed the advantage out to 13 points by the time the final whistle sounded thanks to a goal from Ronan Greene.

St Kevins remain joint top of the table after recording a comfortable 3-11 to 0-4 win away to John Mitchels.

Cian Callan set the ball rolling for the winners as he scored the first goal of the game to see his side lead by 1-6 to no score in the second half.

The Mitchels did get off the mark in the second half as Kevin Gallagher kicked three points.

However, the Kevins were always in charge and they completed a very comfortable afternoon when Shane Meade and Liam Boylan added goals.

Young Irelands came out on top in the Dundalk derby as they proved too strong for Dowdallshill by finishing 3-13 to 0-3 winners.

The home side dominated from the opening whistle and at the interval had built up a 1-9 to 0-1 lead thanks to a Sean McLaughlin goal. Dowdallshill's only response came from Johnny Burke.

It was a similar story in the second half as Dermot Mone piled on the misery for the visitors with two goals, while Aaron Murray was among the point scorers.

Ciaran Thornton and Burke kicked the Dowdallshill scores.

Lannleire are joint top of the table with St Kevins following a hard-fought 0-11 to 1-5 win over Westerns at Reaghstown.

Colin Murphy, Paul Callan and Killian Gregory were on target in the first half as the Dunleer men established a 0-9 to 1-2 lead. Dylan Ogle scored the goal for the home side to keep them in contention.

The Westerns battled in the second half and with Tommy Durnin at the centre of things they kept themselves in the game. However, the comeback fell short as a late Paul Callan free sealed the win for Lannleire.

The game between Sean McDermotts and Stabannon Parnells was postponed.
