The Late Laurence Brady There was widespread sadness in the Gowna area following the death of Laurence (La) Brady at home, Woodcrest, Cortober, in the loving care of his family on Wednesday December 17. A well known member of the locality, Mr Brady was a highly-regarded member of the local community who was known for his friendly and outgoing nature. He was a respected member of the farming community and had a keen interest in the GAA all his life. He played for his native Gowna in the 1950s and was an staunch and unwavering supporter of his sons Laurence, Ciaran and Dessie who are all footballers of renown in the county. Mr Brady was a familiar face at all GAA matches and watched his sons star at all levels on Cavan teams as well as for the home side, Gowna. His daughters are also well-known in sporting circles with Sharon and Siobhan both playing football for their local team. Siobhan and Michelle run a highly successful badminton club in Arva. Some of the largest crowds ever at the Holy Family Church in Lough Gowna attended Mr Brady's Removal and Funeral Mass which took place, respectively to extend their sympathies to his grieving family. The Funeral Mass was concelebrated by as many as 12 priests and burial followed afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Deepest sympathy is tendered to his sorrowing family, wife Mary, daughters Marie, Lorraine, Sharon, Siobhan and Michelle, sons Laurence, Dessie and Ciaran, son-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, brothers and sisters together with a large circle of friends with a large circle of friends and relations, May his soul rest in peace.
