McKeon, Tom

The Late Tom McKeon The death took place of Tom McKeon, Cloonaugh, Drumlish. Tom was the oldest man in the parish. He was born in Killoe in 1910, and was in his 96th year when God called him home. He was a legend in his time, a master craftsman, with a great love for the earth and all its natural beauty. He lived through the War of Independence and had many stories to tell. Tom played football for Killoe in 1931 and '32, receiving medals with Young Emmets as they were called. He won a senior league medal in 1935 and was awarded a trophy for his contribution to the team in 1987. Tom lived in our community for 65 years. He was a gentle, thoughtful, caring man who lived for his late wife Elizabeth and their family. To his sons Tom, Pat, Tony (Dublin) and Martin (Jersey), daughters Sarah, Nan, Ally, Rita, Mary, Bernadette, brothers Pat, and Joe and sister Alice, sons-in-law Martin Ray, Rick, Pete and Clive, daughters-in-law Lily, Bridie and Josephine, his 35 grandchildren and six great grandchildren, his relatives and friends, we extend our deepest and sincerest sympathy.
