Fox, Julie

The Late Julie Fox There was much sadness in Ireland and in the Irish-American community in New York at news of the death of Julie Fox, after a brave battle with illness. Julie was the young wife of Ballinalee man, Gerry Fox and the couple, who were only married five years, have one beautiful daughter, four year old Lauren. Julie 32, finally passed away after a long and harrowing battle with cancer and our thoughts and sympathies at this time are with her heartbroken husband Gerry, their young daughter Lauren and family and friends. The family were very well known here in County Longford where of course, Gerry is a member of the well known and very respected Fox family of Ederland, Ballinalee. He is the second eldest of Jimmy and Anna May's seven children and together with Julie, and more recently Lauren as well, he travelled back to visit family and friends as often as he could. The young family's last visit here was at Christmas, when even as she battled with illness, Julie won the hearts of many with her positive outlook and optimistic view of life. She was a young woman who saw good in everything and her passing at such a young age is a terrible blow to those who knew and loved her, most especially Gerry, Lauren and family. Gerry Fox has been in the US for many years now and is the co-owner of the popular Irish bar, Tommie Fox's in Bergenfield in New Jersey while Julie worked with the giant soft drinks company, Pepsi. Many readers will remember Gerry Fox as a very talented Sean Connolly's and County Longford GAA player while the entire Fox family have been steeped in the GAA tradition and father Jimmy, is one of the county's most respected GAA figures. Gerry's brother, Seamus is a colleague of staff and management at the Longford Leader while his brother Declan was a candidate for the Progressive Democrats in the local elections earlier this year.
