Sympathy: Dromard GAA offers its sympathy to the Brady Family on the death of Margaret (Peggy) Brady (née McNamee), Ballyduffy, Moyne, whose funeral took place on Friday last. The Club offers its condolences to the Smith Family and to Mostrim GAA Club on the passing of John Smith. John was heavily involved in Longford GAA for many years and will be sadly missed. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anamneacha.

Leinster Senior Championship: Commiserations to the Longford senior footballers on their disappointing loss to Laois on Sunday. Hard luck to the Dromard players on the panel, Diarmuid Masterson, Ronan McEntire and Paul McGee and to Enda Macken, Alan McLoughlin and Danny O'Toole. The qualifiers now await Longford, providing an opportunity to recover from this defeat.

Leinster Minor Championship: Hard luck to the Longford minor panel and management, including Dromard's Joseph Hagan, on the loss to a powerful Dublin side in Parnell Park on Saturday last.

Cup 3 League: Dromard 2-6 Ardagh/Moydow 1-15. Our junior team was defeated by a combined Ardagh/Moydow selection in an entertaining game played in perfect conditions in Pairc na nGael on Saturday evening last. Although six points separated the sides at the finish, Dromard worked hard throughout the game and battled well despite being up against a sreong Ardagh/Moydow team. The visitors opened up a four points to no score lead after 10 minutes, before Niall McManus got Dromard off the mark with two well-taken points. Ardagh/Moydow began to dominate possession and opened up a six points to two lead. With half time looming, the visitors scored a decisive goal to leave them in control at the break. Dromard continued to battle for possession in the second half and their work was rewarded with two goals. Points from Keith Masterson and Dillon McCormack reduced the arrears further to just three points but the visitors finished stronger to claim the win. Team: Oisin Hourican, James Conefrey, Kevin Murtagh, Thomas Conefrey, Ronan Smith, Liam Doherty, Michael Reynolds, Dillon McCormack, Jimmy Kiernan, Niall McManus, Niall Gray, Keith Masterson, Mark Murtagh. Subs: Patrick Mimnagh, Barry Smith.

Fixtures: Dromard are due to play county champions Mullinalaghta in the next round of the senior Division 1 league on Saturday evening next (27th May) at 7:00pm in Pairc na nGael. On Sunday at 2.30pm, our Division 3 squad is at home to Killoe. All support would be greatly appreciated.

St. Francis Dromard Minor Club Notes

Longford minors: Hard luck to Joe Hagan and the rest of the Longford minor panel, who took on Dublin in Parnell Park last Saturday afternoon in the Leinster Quarter final. Unfortunately for the lads who had started the game extremely well, they just came up against a superior Dublin Team on the day. The Minor club would like to take this opportunity to thank Joe for all his hard work and commitment he has shown with the Longford minor panel. The club is extremely proud of him and what he has achieved to date.

U16 Juvenile: Our under 16 team are playing St Pats of Ardagh in Pairc na nGael on Tuesday night at 7.30. This is an extremely important game for us, if the team wins they will reach u16 league final, to be played in the next couple of weeks. We would ask everyone to come out and support this young team on the night.

Results: Pride of place this week goes to the U12 Panel. This very young side travelled to Ballymore for their last league fixture knowing a semi-final place rested on the result and they did not disappoint. They led from the throw in but could not shake of their determined hosts, and it was only netting three times that gave them their eventual victory in a close fought match. Panel : Louise Tierney, Niamh Corrigan, Emer Brady, Tara Gray, Grace Tierney, Naoise Hourican,Kate Waters, Kate McEntire(2-1), Lauren Conboy(1-2), Caoimhe Kearney(0-1), Tamara Cosgrove(0-1), Ruth Gray, Elena O'Reily, Kate O'Connor(0-1), Sarah Buchanan. So on to the semi-final in Forgney, but knowing we would be fielding without the injured Kate McEntire. (Get well soon Kate). After a very slow start, in which we only scored 1 point in the whole of the first half, we gradually got the wind in our sails and clawed back the 6 point deficit to 1 point. As we pushed for the equaliser, knowing time was nearly up, B/Forgney managed to turn the ball over and with virtually the whole of our team stranded inside their half they broke upfield, kept the head and netted with the last kick of the game. Final score 2-7 to 1-6. In truth a fabulous match for the spectators between two well balanced sides, and we wish B/Forgney good luck as they now take on Carrickedmond in the final. Panel :-Louise Tierney(0-2), Naoise Hourican, Kate O'Connor(1-1), Caoimhe Kearney, Meadhbh Carbery, Lauren Conboy(0-3), Tamara Cosgrove, Ruth Gray, Niamh Corrigan, Tara Gray, Emer Brady, Elena O'Reilly, Melanie Reilly, Mariah Reilly, Kate Waters, Grace Tierney, Sarah Buchanan.

U14s: On Thursday last our U14's played host to Mostrim, but with athletics in Dublin, and soccer in Navan taking away from our panel we were always second best to a good Mostrim side, and although there was a much improved effort in the second half the game had gone. Final score 1-6 to 3-13 Panel: Cathy Conefrey, Nicole Conboy, Aisling Farrell, Orflaith Magauren, Leah Duffy, Rhiannagh Lennon, Brianna Murphy, Siobhan Murphy, Paige Robinson, Alyssa McErlean. Louise Tierney.

Senior: On Friday we were back on the road to Ballymahon once again, this time with our senior panel to contest another semi-final. Once again, however, like our u/12 panel earlier in the week they were defeated by a good Balymahon side to miss out on promotion to Division One. Hard luck girls, but now you know what's coming down the line in August when the hosts visit Dromard in this year's Intermediate Championship. Keep up the hard work girls.

Fixtures: Thursday 25 May U/14 Panel Home v Colmcille, throw in 7pm. Saturday 27 May U/10 Blitz in Ballymore. This is the first chance of the year for our youngest members to show what they have been learning in training so make every effort to be there girls. Meet at clubhouse at 9am if unsure of directions, or be at Ballymore Grounds by 9 30am to register. Tuesday 30 May or Thurs 1 June (to be confirmed) U/14 Panel away to Ballymore throw in 7pm.

Birthdays: Happy Birthday to Abi Duffy from our U/16 Panel.
