Boyce, Joe

October 11, 2013
There was deep sadness in the area when the news of the death of Joe Boyce, Clygeen, spread on Friday evening last. Joe was one of the most loved and highly respected people in the area. He was an agricultural worker for most of his working life, running the large Flower family farm in Sunfield and Legan Rock. He was a loyal, dedicated and skilled workman who worked with his employers rather than for them. Apart from work, Joe had many interests and involved in all local and community activities. He was a lifelong member of Legan GAA Club and Vice President up to his death. He was an active member of the Aurora Club never missing an outing since its formation and a lifelong member of the Pioneer Total Abstinence Associaiton. Joe was dedicated to his church always available to do offeratory collections, church usher and church gate collections to name but a few. He was a great friend and caring neighbour and will be sadly missed by all who knew him but most especially by his wife Lily. His remains were removed from his home on Sunday evening and he was laid to rest following Requiem Mass on Monday in the new graveyard. To his wife Lily, brother Pat, Uncle Thomas (Towey), relatives and a wide circle of friends we extend our sympathy. May he rest in peace.
