McGoey, Sean

July 26, 2013
On Sunday evening last the sad news spread of the sudden and untimely death of our former Chairman and member of the 1960 County final winning team Sean McGoey suddenly at his residence. Sean died doing one of the things he loved in life, watching football. Sean was a true gentleman who contributed a huge amount to Emmet Og Football club from an early age both as a fine player and later serving various roles on the committee up to a period as chairman. Not alone was Sean's contribution to football in the parish huge but his contribution to life in general in the parish was immense particularly in his beloved Cullyfad area where he was integral to everything that went on from village enhancement to the running of the Community Centre and Church. Sean also contributed a huge amount over the years to youth in the parish through his involvement in setting up various youth projects and excursions based around Cullyfad community centre starting with the Den 91 youth club in 1991. Sean will be sadly missed around the parish and particularly by his family, neighbours and friends in the Crieve and Cullyfad areas. To his family, wife Nan, sons Kevin and Aidan, daughters Eileen, Nuala and Sheila and extended family we send our sincere condolences. Ar Dheis De Go Raibh in Ainm.
