Passing of GAAs Paddy McGrath

Barely a week on from losing one of its all time greats in the form of Bobby Burns, Longford GAA is this week mourning the loss of another much loved stalwart following the passing of Killashee native Paddy McGrath.
The towering full-back, who became a mainstay of a Longford side during the post World War Two era, passed away at the weekend aged 93.

Well known for his tenacity on the field of play, Paddy wore the Longford colours with distinction for almost a decade, spanning the years 1945-52.
A retired Garda, Paddy spent much of his latter years in the Harold's Cross area of Dublin, where his Removal and Funeral Mass took place on Saturday.

A large congeration of mourners lined the inner surroundings of the Church of St. Paul of the Cross, Mount Argus before a further service was held inside the grounds of Mount Jerome Crematorium, Harold's Cross.
