Dromard GAA Club Notes

May 13, 2013
A limited number of (Terrace) tickets priced at €5 each will be available to the club for Longford's first round Leinster Championship match against Wicklow in Aughrim on Sunday 26th May 2013. Anyone interested please contact club chairman Joseph Murphy at 0871340132. On Sunday last our Reserve league 1 panel played Abbeylara in Pairc na Gael. With the heavy overnight rain pitch conditions were sticky.  The visitors got into the game from the start scoring 5 points without reply.  Dromard responded well scoring the next 4 points to reduce the margin. The visitors had the better of the remainder of the half outscoring us to extend their lead to leave the half time score Dromard 0-5 Abbeylara 0-11. Dromard needed to get the names on the scoreboard early in the second half to get back into the game. However it was the visitors who took up where they left off and increased their lead. Our players tried very hard to get back into this encounter but we weren't able to break down the resolute opposing defence.  At the full time whistle the score was Dromard 0-7 Abbeylara 0-22.  Team and scorers; Martin Mc Gee, Enda Kiernan, James Mimnagh, James Conefrey, Micheal Reilly, John Sheridan, Padraic McNerney, Noel Reynolds, Enda Mc Entire, Kieran McStay, Peter Reynolds, Emmet Masterson (0-2), Ross McNerney (0-2) 1 free, Enda Macken (0-1), Gary Maguire (0-2) 1 free.  Subs used; Ronan Smith, Bryan Mc Cormack, Peter Mimnagh, Niall McManus and Donie Conefrey.  We play Killoe in Killoe in the final round of this competition on Saturday next.  We play Longford Slashers in Division 3 this Wednesday in Michael Fay Park. We extend our sincere sympathies to Collette Masterson, Firmullagh and the Masterson family on the sad passing of Collette's brother Eamon Mulleady during the past week. The auction in aid of the Dromard Four Schools Reunion fund, held on Sunday 5th May, was a great success. Sincere thanks to all those who generously donated and purchased items for sale. Thank you to all who helped to organise the event and those who helped in any way on the day.
