Dromard Senior Notes
On Friday last out seniors had Rathcline as visitors to Pairc na Gael in round 3 of the All County league. Pitch conditions were good despite the amount of rain that had fell during the day. We opened the scoring with a James Martin pointed free. This was followed almost immediatly by a Gary Maguire goal. Rathcline responded with a point from play. Dromard raised the tempo and we able to land an unanswered 1-3 with the goal coming from Francis Mc Gee and the points coming from James Martin (free), Ross Mc Nerney and Declan Mimnagh (free). While the visitors did have their chances to add scores but they were unable to find their range. A pointed free was their reply but another Francis Mc Gee goal brought the half's scoring to conclusion. The half time score was Dromard 3-4 Rathcline 0-2. A Declan Mimnagh point from play extended our lead. The Lanesboro men landed a point before both teams exchanged 3 points. Declan Mimnagh broke through the opposition defence to find the net. Both sides added a point apiece. It was at this point the game was abondoned due to lack of light. The score at the this stage was Dromard 4-8 Rathcline 0-6. Team and scorers. On this occasion Granard provided the opposition and Pairc na Gael was the venue. It was the Granard men with the assistance of the breeze in the opening half were superior, opening up a lead. By half time the score was Dromard 0-2 Granard 2-10. While Dromard did compete well scores were at a premium. The youthful Granard team continued to set the pace in the second half but Dromard never gave up trying and at the full time whistle had pulled back the score to 3-16 to 1-8. Team and scorers. The club would like to offer their sincerest sympathies to the Kiernan family Ballyduffy on the passing of Peter Kiernan during the past week. To his devoted wife Cissie and son Eamonn we pass on our condolences on their loss. Eamonn is our current hardworking PRO who has also served as Treasurer as well as covering many other roles in the club in the past. Peter's grandsons Enda, Conor and Brian are also very active members of our playing ranks in the club.
St. Francis Dromard minor notes
We had the privilege of having All Ireland winning Armagh and Crossmaglen player Oisin Mc Conville as a guest at our club grounds recently. Oisin was speaking to our youth and parents in his capacity as an addiction counsellor. This was a very informative evening for all in attendance. We thank Oisin for his time and his very interesting talk. Thanks to Theresa Duffy who was a major help in organising the event. Thanks to parents and children who came out on the night.
On Tuesday last we had an useful u13 challenge with Clonbroney in Pairc na Gael. Players on duty here. Ollie Duffy, Liam Donohoe, Gareth O Hara, Karl Mc Nerney, Darragh O Toole, Ciaran Murphy, Joseph Hagan, Luke Mc Entire, Aaron Farrell, Ronan Bleakley, Cian Gray, Conor Mc Gauran, Stephen Donohoe, Shane Grimes, Jason Grimes, Joshua Gray and Fionn Hourican. On Wednesday our schools team had another division 2 game against St. Michaels in Pairc na Gael. This was played in sunny conditions with a stiff breeze that Dromard played with in the first half. The scores were scarce in this game where both defences were dominant. The visitors took an early lead with a point from play. Cian Cassidy pointed a free after a foul on himself to level matters. An opportunist goal from play by Shane Grimes followed by another Cian Cassidy point from play extended Dromard's lead. The Longford town school pulled back 2 points before the break to leave the score at half time Dromard 1-2 St. Michaels 0-3. It was the visitors who started the second half strongly scoring an unanswered 1-3. A fine Conor Mc Gauran point from play was Dromard's response. While our players worked very hard to try to get back into the game, it wasn't to be as the opposition closed out the scoring with 2 more points. Final score was Dromard 1-3 St. Michaels 1-8. On Thursday last our u16s traveled to Shroid where they the played the home team in their final outing in their division. Hard luck to our team who came out second best on the evening. Players on duty here were Barry Smith, Martin Mc Stay, Oisin Hourican, Jason Quigley, Peadar Kiernan, Enna Mimnagh, Dylan Mc Crmack, Joseph Reynolds, Niall Gray. On Thursday our u10s kicked off their Go Games blitz program when we traveled to Ballymore to play games with the home club, Colmcille and Clonbroney. Players on duty were Daniel Conboy, Ryan O Connor, Nichole Conboy, James Brady, Oisin O Toole, Alan Corcoran, Orla Mc Gauran, Gavin Reilly, Christopher Grimes, Alyssa Mc Erlean, Ian Mc Loughlin, Avril Cosgrove, Shane O Hara, Leah Duffy, Ronan Corcoran and Rory O Toole,
On Sunday our u8s took part in a mini blitz game with Carrick Sarsfields played in the Leinster GAA Road show inflateable pitch at the Longford Slashers club grounds. This was a very was a successful event that the boys and girls really enjoyed. Players who took part were Shane O Hara, Paige Robinson, Thomas Maguire, Rory O Toole, Odhran Gray, Tara Gray, Avril Cosgrove, Tamara Cosgrove, James Cosgrove, Ruth Gray, Rian Tuite, Christopher Bohan, Aron Gray, Joshua Mc Loughlin and Conor Reilly.
Hard luck to Longford minors who were narrowly defeated by Meath in Navan last Wednesday in the the Leinster minor qualifier.

Dromard ladies notes
On Saturday our seniors took on neighbours Colmcille in the league in Pairc na Gael. Colmcille opened the scoring with a point from play. Dromard responded with an Imelda Reynolds goal and points from play from Doirean Mimnagh, Aedin Mimnagh and Imelda Reynolds to leave Dromard 1-3 to 0-1 ahead. It was Colmcille who came back strongly scoring an unanswered 1-3 to edge ahead by a point. Helen Conefrey split the posts with a point from play only to be cancelled out by a Colmcille point. An Ellen Murphy goal on the stroke of half time left the half time score Dromard 2-4 Colmcille 1-5. Colmcille came out in determined fashion and scored 2-1 in the early stages of the half. Dromard weren't going to go down without a fight and Imelda Reynolds landed another point and this was followed by a Rebecca Maguire goal to leave only a point separating the teams. Rebecca Maguire landed another point from play but it was the visitors finished strongly adding further scores to finish ahead on the final score of Dromard 3-7 Colmcille 5-10. Team and scorers. On Tuesday our u14 girls played Ballymore in Pairc na Gael in their league. The Dromard girls started well playing very good football and getting some fine scores. At half time the score was Dromard 3-7 Ballymore 1-0. The opposition worked very hard to get back into the game and did land some fine scores but it was the home side who held on an came on on top on the scoreline of Dromard 8-15 Ballymore 3-2. On Friday our u12s had to make the short journey to Fr. Mc Gee Park to take on Colmcille. After a great game our girls came out winners on a scoreline of 7-9 to 4-5. Team and scorers. Abi Duffy, Karen McLoughlin, Clodagh Duffy (0-2), Sarah Murphy (2-2), Alanna Mulligan 5-5, Eleanor Rabitte and Leah Duffy. We wish Donal Sheridan who has been training us for the past number of weeks all the best as he heads for Canada this week.
Fixtures for the week: The u14s play Mostrim Tuesday eve at 7pm in Edgeworthstown. The u16s amalgamation with Colmcille play St.Helens on Thursday evening at 7pm in Dromard. The u12's play Grattans on Friday at 7pm in Dromard. The junior ladies have a bye in Division 2 league this weekend.
