Division 1 League: Dromard 3-11 Clonguish 1-10. Congratulations to our senior footballers and management team who secured their Division 1 status for another year with a very good performance and win over Clonguish on Saturday evening. Dromard started the game well with James Martin (2), Joseph Hagan and Ronan McEntire giving Dromard a 4 points to 1 lead after 15 minutes. Cian Mimnagh then finished an excellent goal to the Clonguish net to extend Dromard’s lead. Gradually the visitors began to get a foothold in the game and scored a goal to narrow Dromard’s lead. However, Dromard responded again with an excellent break down the field by Dylan McCormack whose powerful shot found the back of the net. Another Joseph Hagan point from play left the halftime scoreline at Dromard 2-5 Clonguish 1-5. Dromard continued to play well in the second half and added a further 1-6 to their half-time tally. The goal was finished to the net by substitute Peadar Kiernan after some good build-up play from Ronan McEntire while Dromard’s second half points were scored by James Martin (2), Francis McGee, Joseph Hagan (2) and Peter Reynolds. Well done to the players on finishing their league campaing with a win and to manager Niall Sheridan, Paul Hourican, Stephen Reilly, Cathal Twaddle, Danny O’Toole, Thomas Donohoe and the rest of the Dromard management team. Team versus Clonguish: Gavin McNerney; Dylan McCormack, Niall Vance, Paul McGee; Conor McGauran, Pauric Martin, Ronan Bleakley; Diarmuid Masterson, Bernard Sheridan; Joseph Hagan, Francis McGee, Luke McEntire; James Martin, Ronan McEntire, Cian Mimnagh. All Ireland Masters Shield Final: Congratulations to the Longford/Leitrim Masters footballers on winning the All Ireland Shield final with a victory over Laois in Ballyleague on Saturday. Special congratulations to the two Dromard representatives on the team, Noel Reynolds (midfield) and James Martin (centre forward and scorer of five points).

U20 Football Championship: Best of luck to our U20 footballers who take on Carrickedmond in the championship on Saturday (28 September) at 5pm at Páirc na nGael. All support welcome.

Eamonn Murray: Well done to Eamonn Murray, manager of the Meath LGFA Ladies team, who reached the TG4 Ladies All Ireland Intermediate Final in Croke Park on Sunday last. Unfortunately, Meath was pipped by Tipperary on the day, but it was a huge achievement for them to reach two All Irelands in a row. Eamonn, who originally hailed from Portanure, Lough Gowna played his football for the renowned Gowna GAA club and Moyne Community School. Eamonn has a lot of relatives in the area including his uncle Paddy Cooke from Gortamone aunt Teresa Donohoe, Annagh.  His cousin Thomas Donohoe is a member of the current Dromard Senior Management team.
