Pride of place this week goes to our junior scòr ballad group who were crowned Lenister champions in Wexford on Sunday night. The group led by Gràinne Fox and consisting of Olivia Whelan, Alanna McKeon, Anna Moorehead, Niamh O Brien and Michelle Mollaghan were excellent on the night and were worthy winners. Commiserations to our solo singer Olivia Whelan who was pipped in the final.

 

Our agm took place on Sunday evening last and was very well attended. The committee elected for the coming year was Chairman, Jim McGoldrick, Vice chair, Sean Whelan, Secretary, Brian Donohoe, Assistant secretary and Pro, Thomas Quinn, Treasurer, Geraldine Halpin with Danny Keogh as assistant, County Board delegates, Frank Toher, John Dowd and Brian Donohoe and Turlough Farrelly, Irish officer, Yvonne Nì Thuathail, registrars Ronan McGoldrick and Sean Whelan, cildrens officer Ann Harte  and healthy officer Claire Kiernan. Our chairman, secretary and treasurer all presented very favorable reports which leave the club in a very healthy position heading into 2018. We say a big thank you to Marie McCormack who has acted as Irish Officer for a considerable amount of years and done an excellent job throughout her tenure. 

 

Our dinner dance with a difference takes place on Saturday night the 27th January 2018 in the LOngford arms. Dinner will be served at 8pm sharp. This year we have  an entertainer hosting the event who will provide commentary, song, laughter and fun throughout the event from 8pm on. We are also honoring the great championship winning teams of 1993 and 1995 on the 25th anniversary of their success. It is assured to be a fantastic night. Tickets available from any committee member or in local pubs and shops at €30 each. 

 

Hard luck to the Longford team and our 4 representatives on their agonizing O Byrne Cup loss to Meath on Sunday last. Hopefully we will have a successful league campaign ahead.

 

Our lotto draw for a jackpot of  took place on Sunday night in Begleys. The numbers drawn were 6, 11, 24 and 29. There was no jackpot winner. €20 winners were Cormac O Reilly, Abbeycartron, Danny Keogh, Kelleter, Louise Dooner, Kilglass, Delores Coleman, C/O The Olde Forge and Paddy Lee. This weeks sellers prize went to Joe Leonard. Next weeks draw for a jackpot of€10,900 will take place in the Olde Forge on Sunday night with Gerry Rowleys crew on duty.
