Hot and cold Yeats County sneak win
March 02, 2008
Sligo blew hot and cold but still managed a narrow 0-14 to 1-10 Division Three win over Limerick at Markievicz Park.
The winners went almost half an hour without a score in the first half, after flying into an early lead thanks to David Kelly, Eamonn O'Hara and Philip Gallagher.
Dermot Phelan punished the Yeatsmens' first-half malaise when he plundered an injury-time goal to hand the Treaty County a 1-6 to 0-5 interval lead.
The hosts found their stride upon the resumption and had levelled by the midway stage in the second period after striking five times without reply, 0-11 to 1-8.
Tommy Jordan's charges could ill afford to ship a third successive defeat and they got out of jail when Jonathan Davey landed the winning point in the final minute.
