September 30, 2007
The death occurred on August 5th, 2007 of Philip (Philly) Kiely, Gortacorn, Glen of Aherlow. The deceased was a highly respected and popular member of the farming community and his death is deeply regretted. He was a hard working and industrious member of a family whose roots come from West Tipperary and South Tipperary. The family were well known for breeding top class bulls which they won at Cattle marts., and received high prices at the sales. Philly's social life was involved in playing Gaelic football from minor to junior grades. The remains of the deceased were removed from his residence to the Church of the Sacred Heart, Lisvernane, where they were received by Reverend Father Derry Quirke, CC, Galbally/Aherlow and following concelebrated Requiem Mass, the interment took place in the adjoining cemetery. The chief celebrant of the Requiem Mass was Father Iggy Donovan, Drogheda, assisted by Reverend Father Derry Quirke. The attendance at the residence of the deceased, reception at the church, Requiem Mass and burial paid tribute to the deceased, his wife and family. Courtesy of The Limerick Leader. September 2007
