Wallace, Tom

The late Tom Wallace The death of Tom Wallace of Limerick City and formerly of Castle Erkin, Caherconlish occurred suddenly. His funeral was from Crosses Funeral Home to Our Lady Mother of the Church Caherconlish and he was buried in Inch St Laurence Cemetery following requiem mass. The last Tom who was in his mid fifties was a most likable and gentle man. He was a twin and hailed from a widely respected local family. Before living in the city he as very much part of the local scene. In particular he was ever present at GAA games in Caherconlish GAA field during the seventies and eighties and was a great supporter of local teams. Whether it was adult or underage competition Tom was part of the team. He always volunteered to carry the bottles of water or the spare hurleys for the teams. If a visiting referee needed an umpire or linesman for a game Tom would be the first to volunteer and nobody ever disagreed with his decisions for Tom as always well able to stand up for himself should there be any negatives placed against him. He also helped out at the Big Tree Lounge alas now no longer with us. Now and again Tom would make the journey home to Caherconlish and without hesitation he would always extend the friendly recognition to every body. He had a warm nature about him. May he rest in peace. Courtesy of the Limerick Leader 03 March 2007
