The Late Robert Corbett The community was plunged into sadness when the news circulated on the death of two of its most popular citizens. Robert Corbett affectionately known as Bobby of Garanemore fought a brave and dignified battle after a short illness. A young man in the prime of his life was a kind and generous person to all who came in contact with him. He was a bubbly character and always in good cheer. A devoted father to his three young children Saoirse, Caoilinn and Robert and husband to Mairead, nee Franklin of Dromlara. Bobby was the youngest member of the well known Corbett family of Lisheen, always willing to lend a hand to his neighbours and community, his contribution and workmanship to the millennium focal point in the local GAA Field is testimony to his great heart and talents. His sporting talents led him to be a great hearted player for the GAA Club always giving that 110%, later on he would join the O' Dwyer's Bar Golf Society and showed the versatile talents he processed. Playing with him you would be entertained by his wonderful sense of humour and conversation. His untimely death has left a huge void to his family, neighbours and friends, a void not easily replaced. There was a very large and represented attendance at his repose and funeral which was tantamount to his popularity. Pallasgreen GAA Club and O'Dwyer's Bar Golf Society paid their tribute by forming a guard of honour before Mass and the journey to the cemetery. Mass was celebrated by Rev Fr Holloway, assisted by Fr McNamara, Fr McSweeney, Fr Corbett and Fr Kennedy. Sympathies are tendered to his wife Mairead and children, mother Annie, sisters Marian, Delia and Ann, brothers Paudie, Sean, Michael and Joe, relatives and friends. Funeral was from his home to Nicker Church. Following requiem Mass interment took place in St Columbas Cemetery. Courtesy of the Limerick Leader 9/9/06
