The late Jim Morrissey, Ballyagran The death has occurred of Jim Morrissey of Cappanahane, Ballyagran. Large congregations attended the removal of the remains from O'Grady's Funeral Parlour, to St Michael's Church, Ballyagran and burial after Requiem mass to Granagh Cemetery. The clergy included Rev F Browne, Rev Fr O'Neill, Rev Fr O'Leary, Granagh and Rev Fr Kelly, Athea. The oration was given by Brendan Danaher of Castletown-Ballyagran GAA at the funeral Mass and the graveside oration was given by Senator Rory Kiely, friend of the deceased. The late Jim was an outstanding player with the Castletown hurling team that won the West Limerick Junior championship title in 1946, 1951, 52, 53 and a south title in 1958. He also played with Granagh-Ballyingarry, Croom, Western Gaels and Emmett's. Jim won Munster Junior hurling titles with Limerick Senior hurlers in the National League and Thomond Feis Tournament. He also served as an administrator with Castletown/Ballyagran GAA in the 1960's and 70's and was life president of the club at the time of his death. Jim was a successful farmer and agricultural contractor, giving a wonderful service to his many friends, also supplying hay, straw and silage for both the home and export market. He is mourned by his family (Castletown/Ballyagran)
