Galbally club notes

The Club's AGM took place Fri last 20th Jan.  It was very well attended and all committee members were returned for another year - Chairperson Martin Kearney; Tom Quinlan Vice Chairperson; Gerard Cussen Secretary, Michael McCabe Assistant Secretary; Treasurer Brian Chaplin, Assistant Treasurer Maurice Moriarty.  Chairperson, Martin Kearney gave an overall account of the year outlining the position of the club, team achievements and the very successful fundraiser 'Strictly' held last March. He said the club was in a very positive position and had great outlook for the new season. The Secretary Gerard Cussen, outlined all the activities for last year, giving an account of clubs achievement in the different competitions. He reported that club was in a very good position going forward for the coming season. He spoke about 'Strictly' and what a positive community event it was as well as being a very necessary fundraiser for the club. He outlined the planned fundraiser for April which is the 20K Drop run by 'Galbally Combined'  - a cross community fundraiser with Galbally GAA, Galbally Soccer and Galbally Tidy Town. There will be more information on this event in the coming weeks. Lastly Treasurer Brian Chaplin spoke on the club's finances which are in a very healthy position going forward into the new season. He outlined the great source of income from the Club Limerick Draw and the successes in the club during this year - 2 first prizewinners in May and June €10,000 each to Kathleen & Orla Hickey, and to Ruth & Aoife Kiely, daughters of John and Louise. He thanked the co -ordinator Anne Halligan and the promoters for their great work in making the draw the success it is. He encouraged all to continue to support the draw as again it had  great prize opportunity but in addition the club retained half of money collected. Going forward 2017 looks very positive for Galbally GAA Club
