Sadness in Limerick at death of Fr Ronnie Neville

Limerick hurling means a lot to many people but few loved it as much as Fr Ronnie Neville.

He travelled the country following Limerick and was in regular contact with those involved at all levels in Limerick hurling. It was with great sadness that I learned of his untimely death on Monday.

Fr Ronnie came from a great GAA family and he loved every moment following the Limerick hurlers. Seldom had a week passed that he would not phone or e-mail me to be updated on the local news on the GAA front and he was never shy to air his views in this newspaper.

Fr Neville was proud to follow Limerick and whoever managed teams would be well aware of him because he would send them letters of support but would also offer suggestions. I met with Fr Ronnie Neville in Dublin on a few occasions and he spoke of great pride about his father and how happy he was to give the land in Rathkeale which we now know as Neville Park.

We have lost a great Gael and a great friend and to his brother, sister and family relatives I offer my sincere sympathy.
