Death of Ahane hurler Maurice O'Brien

Sympathy is extended to the family for the late Maurice O'Brien, late of Rhebogue and Ahane, who passed away peacefully at the Regional Hospital on Friday, November 23. Maurice, who worked with CIE as a train driver for forty years, had amongst many other interests, his great love of hurling, playing with Ahane for many years. He was a member of the Ahane team who won their fifteen Limerick senior hurling title in 1948 when he was just 18-years-old, playing with such greats as Mick, Todsie and John Mackey; Mick and Sean Herbert, Jackie Power, just to name but a few. Maurice was predeceased by his beloved wife Catherine. He was laid to rest in Kilmurry Cemetery, after Requiem Mass in Ahane Church on Monday last. He will be greatly missed by his loving sons, daughter, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, extended family, relatives and a wide circle of friends. May he rest in peace.
