Limerick axe Carey
April 19, 2004
Ciaran Carey
It has been reported that Limerick hurling captain Ciaran Carey has been dropped from the county panel.
Depite being included on the 30-man squad for Sunday's National League win over Clare, it's understood that Carey won't figure for the remainder of the year. The captain's armband is now expected to be handed to long-serving full back TJ Ryan.
The Patrickswell clubman is regarded as one of Limerick's greatest ever hurlers, but has fallen out of favour with manager Padjoe Whelahan.
He also struggled to make an impact under Whelahan's predecessor Dave Keane and actually retired from inter-county hurling during last year's campaign.
