Crowley, Joe

The death occurred of Joe Crowley, Knockalishian, Meelick. Joe was extremely popular with all sections of Society in the parish. He was chairman of the parish council for many years and did trojan work for the betterment of the parish and cycled to and from meetings throughout the parish. He worked all his life with C.I.E. and attended daily Mass at 7am before work throughout his working life. He was President of Meelick GAA club for long number of years and he did alot of work for the club behind the scenes. Never one to seek the limelight, he visited the pitch on a daily basis since he retired about 15 years ago and ensured that toilets, dressing rooms and field markings were kept in order. The was a huge representative attendance at the Removal of the remains from his home to Meelick Church and at the burial in the church grounds. Officers and members of Meelick GAA club formed a guard of honour and the coffin was draped in the Meelick club colours.
