Dromcollogher/ Broadford 0-08

This a very tight game, with the penalty for Newcastle West been the difference between the sides at the end of the game, hard luck to the management team of Mike Fahy, Ben Noonan and Jerome Stack and to the players led by Patrick Donnelly captain on losing to Newcastle West which makes the fixture against Ballylanders in the second round, on week-ending June 16th, a must win game for Dromcollogher/ Broadford.

Newcastle West scored the first three points of the game and these points came from Thomas Quilligan, Ian Corbett and Mike Quilligan and then Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the next four points to take the lead for the first time during the game with three of these points coming from Garrett Noonan and the other point from Micheál Reidy.

Newcastle West replied with a point from Mike Quilligan to bring sides back on level terms for the second time during the game. Newcastle West took the lead again from Penalty which was given away by Dromcollogher/ Broadford Tommy Stack and then Mike Quilligan converted it with 26 minutes gone in the game. Newcastle West scored three more points before half-time to put six points between the sides at the break with two points of these coming Mike Quilligan and the other point from Ian Corbett. To leave the score at half-time Newcastle West 1-7 to Dromcollogher/ Broadford 0-4.

Ian Corbett of Newcastle West and Derry McCarthy of Dromcollogher/ Broadford exchanged points early in the second half and then Newcastle West scored their last two points of the game and these points came from James Kelly and Sean Cronin. Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the last three points of the game with two of these points coming from Seanie Buckely and the other point coming from Garrett Noonan to leave five points between the sides at end of the game. To leave the score at full-time Newcastle West 1-10 to Dromcollogher/ Broadford 0-08.

This is one sided game played over in Kilmallock, there was a good effort put in by our boys for their first game of the year.

In the first half Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored 9 points to Kilmallock 2-7 and the points from Dromcollogher/ Broadford in the first half were: Derry McCarthy 4 points Mike Boyce, Timmy O'Carroll 2 points each and Paul Madigan a point.

In the Second half Dromcollogher Broadford scored 3 points to Kilmallock 1-6 and the points from Dromcollogher/ Broadford in the second half were: Derry McCarthy, Colm Meaney and James Hartnett a point each.

To Limerick Minor Footballers and especially to our club players Darren Boyce and Naill O'Brien and to Garrett Noonan who was a selector with the this team that lost to Kerry in the losers group playoff on a scoreline of 3-9 to 0-5, in the Munster Minor Football Championship Losers group playoff.
