Munster U21FC: McInerney double sinks Limerick
March 15, 2012
Clare 2-7
Limerick 0-10
County senior hurler Cathal McInerney was the Clare hero as the Banner sent a wasteful Limerick side crashing out of the Cadbury Munster U21FC at the Gaelic Grounds last night.
The full forward scored two goals in either half as Colm Collins' charges repeated the feat of their senior counterparts in the Allianz League a couple of weeks ago. Limerick's misery was compounded by the dismissal of Ian Corbett on a straight red card for a reckless tackle with time almost up.
The sides were level on 0-3 apiece before McInerney went past Aidan Morrissey and blasted the opening goal in the 13th minute. That score separated the teams at the break - 1-5 to 0-5 - but the outcome remained in doubt until McInerney pounced for his second major eight minutes from the end.
