The Late Pat Casey

It was with deep sorrow and sadness that the district learned of the passing of Pat Casey of Rusheen, Holy Cross and formerly of Ballyvourneen, Caherconlish who passed away last weekend following an illness.

The late Pat was one of east limerick's warmest personalties and was most engaging man in life and also well known as a businessman, far and wide. Since leaving school, he worked in the motor factor industry and it was through that trade that he built up his business reputation.

He had a vast technical knowledge of the automobile parts industry and hence the catchphrase 'Ask Pat Casey' was born. As a young man here in parish, he was a talented hurler and footballer playing many a fine game for Caherline GAA teams. He retired from sport early enough in his career to concentrate on the motor parts business through Limerick Brakes and later on through Munster Car Parts.

On a personal level, he was an engaging man in company and had a comical sense of humour that gained him lifelong friendships. He had many friends. He hailed from an old established and respected local family.

He was buried in the new graveyard at Patrickwell near Lough Gur following Requiem Mass in Knockainey Church on Easter Monday. Sympathy is tendered to his wife and family and to the extended Casey Family, relatives and friends. Go ndeana Dia Trocaire ar a anam dilis.
