Here i my report for the activities of Dromcollogher Broadford Gaa Club 2010
I would like to thank Gareth Meaney for a detailed PRO report for the year. The highlight for the year was minor A West and county double. This was a great achievement and it is very important that we build on this success. We won three in a row west Senior Football Championships. This is a major milestone as a club we are at a crossroads to push on and build on this senior success with a new crop of young players and an experienced older group. I would like to thank John Brudair and his management team for a job well done. Our Junior Team noticed a step in standards compared to novice and hopefully we can improve with an injection of youth into this team also. Our under 21 footballers got to the west B final but could not beat St Kieran's. This was a very young side so we can be optimistic. Thanks to Denny Scollard and Jim Barry for taking care of these two teams. Our minor footballers had a great season, not losing a game, played great football and won a west and county A title. I would like to thank the other managers who co operated with me as manager to get these minors over the line. I would also like to thank Ray Lynch Garrett Noonan and Gareth Meaney for their help.
In Junior Hurling we had change of management with Dennis O Carroll taking on the challenge. We won the West Junior League but did not qualify from the "group of Death" in the championship. Our Novice team got to the West semi Final but lost to Feohanagh. This was a young side and hurling will benefit from the minor A success. In the under 21 B Hurling, St Kieran's put a stop to our gallop in the semi final. I would like Dennis O Carroll and his management teams for all their work and hopefully we can push on in 2011 and land some championship silverware. Our minor hurlers had a great season.
We got off to a bad start with a loss to Mick Neville's but there was no stopping them after that, going all the way and winning a minor A west and county. I would like to thank Pat McCarthy and Ger Madigan and their backroom team for a job well done. I would like to thank the minor panel for their effort and they got their just reward.
On the Intercounty scene, Sean Buckley captained the Limerick Senior Football Team to win Division 4 of the National football league. Garrett Noonan was also on the panel. Derry McCarthy Eoin Barry Ray Lynch and Gary Egan played on the Limerick Intermediate football team. Micheal Brosnan Brian and |Kevin Noonan were on the Limerick minor Football team. Damian Lacey played with the Limerick under 15 hurling team. Micheal Reidy was a selector with the Limerick Under 21 football team, Garrett Noonan is a selector for the Limerick Minor team 2011. Tommy Stack managed the Limerick Ladies Junior team to win the All Ireland Junior Championship, Clodagh Reidy Joanne O Gorman and Jennifer Stokes were on the team. Congrats to Ray Lynch for winning a west senior football All Star award, Micheal Brosnan got the minor hurling All Star and Brian Noonan got the Minor Football All Star. Tom O Brien won the Munster all star masters award for handball. He also won an emerald masters all Ireland. CJ Fitzpatrick won a doubles all Ireland with Seamus Carroll.
Our Lady Footballers won county titles at Under 14 and under 16 levels. The bord nog who won an under 16 division 2 shield final in hurling. I would like to thank Bord Na Nog for keeping our playing structures going. This is becoming more difficult year after year as our playing population is decreasing.
In July Tommy Reidy organised a great evening to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 1960 county under 16 hurling title in the clubhouse. The entire panel was represented on the night. Thank you Tommy.
In December we remembered our friend and colleague Dennis Noonan and played a friendly Game 2001 Senior Team V 2010 Senior Team. Garrett Noonan accepted the Dennis Noonan Memorial cup from Pat and George Noonan on behalf of the 2010 Senior Team who won the game.
We had 20 club meetings during the year, attended by an average of 11 members per meeting. 25 text messages were sent out for each meeting. Thank you for your commitment. The meetings were dominated by the roof issue and i am sorry to say that we have made no progress made in resolving the issue. On a good note Broadford Pitch is back in use and has been used by underage teams to train.
I would like to thank my assistant Tom McLoughlin, PRO Gareth Meaney and all other officers of the club, the managers, selectors, and players and anyone who contributed to our club during year.
It is not what your club can do for you but what you can do for your club.
